Your flights may be delayed travelling to and from the Mediterranean this year, but a new company, Holiday Taxis, aims to ease your journey to and from your foreign airport. Customer have become increasingly dissatisfied with the cattle herding mentality of tour operators that still believe it's acceptable to make customers wait at their destination airport for other passengers, then subject them to a standard six stops at different resorts before finally delivering them to their own hotel, - said Paul Stanyer, who has set up Holiday Taxis.
The company offers bookable private taxi transfers from the most popular Mediterranean airports to accommodation in resorts. Rates are fixed - Corfu - Sidari, for instance is £37 single, £62 return; Palma - Magaluf is 330/£49 - and only licensed local taxi companies will be used. The service will be useful for people booking cheap last minute deals, which often don't include transfers. It will also appeal to those wanting to sidestep the queues for rental cars at airports or avoid driving on unfamiliar routes in the dark. If Holiday Taxis' venture is a success, it will be expanded to cover ski resorts. Taxis can be booked direct with the company or through independent travel agents.
